We work to ensure pupils learn in a safe, caring and enriching environment. Children are taught how to develop healthy and positive relationships, keep themselves safe online and how to avoid situations where they may be at risk of exploitation.

Importantly, every child deserves to be heard, and we are committed to creating an environment where they feel safe, respected, and supported.

We have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind and actively promote equality and inclusion across our school. Our staff are empowered with the training, support, and confidence they need to act effectively because safeguarding is not just a policy - it’s everybody’s responsibility.

Safeguarding is the golden thread running through everything we do. We operate with the mindset that “it could happen here”, ensuring that vigilance and care are at the heart of our approach.

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school.

We recognise our responsibility under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to work together with other agencies to ensure effective arrangements within our school to identify, assess and support children who are suffering from harm.

Luxulyan School is an Operation Encompass school, which means we can offer immediate support to children experiencing domestic abuse. Operation Encompass directly connects the police to our designated safeguarding lead to ensure children receive support from the school where an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either adult involved.

    Our safeguarding team

Mr Nathan Cooper – designated safeguarding lead

Tim Kellow – deputy designated safeguarding lead

Suzanne Le-Doux-Lucas – deputy designated safeguarding lead

Members of our safeguarding team have undergone the specialist training required and are also responsible for any children in care (CiC).

All staff are trained in Child Protection Awareness and we have safeguarding and child protection policies that are regularly reviewed.
